Using Quokka

Quokka keeps your team's best lines in one place. Save a message with a reaction, and pull a quote back whenever you want one.

Get a quote

Type /quote in your channel and Quokka replies with a random one. Narrow it down:

/quote
/quote tag:classic
/quote speaker:Ryan
/quote deployment story

• tag:foo asks for that tag (add more to require several).
• speaker:name limits it to one person.
• Any other words search the text of the quote.

Save a quote

See something worth keeping? React to the message with the capture emoji (:speech_balloon: by default). Quokka saves the text, who said it, and a link back to the original message. React again and it will not save a duplicate.

Manage your quotes

Everything lives in the admin pane, where you can:

• Browse the quotes in a space and delete ones that missed the mark.
• Add or bulk-import quotes by hand.
• Pull a random quote with filters to check what's there.
• See setup status at a glance.

Add Quokka to a channel

Quokka works in one channel at a time. To set one up, an admin:

1. Adds the Quokka app to the workspace and invites it to the channel.
2. Creates a space in the admin pane and binds the channel to it.
3. Optionally imports your existing favourites so it's not empty on day one.

From then on, the channel serves quotes and captures new ones by reaction.
